AlterMed Research Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2006, dedicated to the advancement of scientific research and education of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) to address human cancer and chronic illness and to promote healthful living. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) of National Institutes of Health (NIH), two-thirds of Americans use CAM, and yet less than one percent of NIH biomedical research dollars are dedicated to CAM. Lacking big pharmaceutical support since national substances cannot be patented, CAM research is severely under-funded especially for cancer and chronically ill patients. AlterMed bridges the funding gap for the international scientific research and education of CAM so all human beings can benefit. AlterMed has initiated the Colorado Integrative Medicine Conference (cIMc) to train health professionals and the general public with the latest evidence-based information for CAM. The 2009 conference will focus on mind-body medicine and be held July 17-19, 2009 at the YMCA of the Rockies located in Estes Park, Colorado. The 2009 conference faculty consists of 12 well-known mind-body experts from universities and clinics across the nation. We are looking for attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, grants, and volunteers. Check out http://www.AlterMedResearch.org/Conferences.html for more information.
